Julián Panero Vázquez has joined the Phd "Physics and Mathematics" PhD programme at UCLM. He holds a degree in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid and a master’s degree in Data Science from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. His background focuses on mathematical modelling, data analysis and deep learning. For his master’s thesis, he developed spatiotemporal prediction models incorporating constraints through differential equations. He also has professional experience developing and validating quantitative models in the financial sector.

His PhD project will be cosupervised by Sarah Bruningk (Bern Inselspital) and Víctor M. Pérez-García (MOLAB) and will focus on predicting the response of brain metastases to stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRS), using hybrid models that integrate artificial intelligence with mechanistic mathematical modelling. By combining longitudinal MRI data, dosimetry and clinical variables, he aims to develop models that anticipate tumour evolution following treatment while incorporating biological knowledge and uncertainty quantification.

His ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of personalised, interpretable and scientifically grounded predictive tools that support clinical decision-making and advance precision oncology.
