On April 30th, at IES Maestre de Calatrava (Ciudad Real, Spain), our colleague José García Otero will deliver the outreach talk “The Invisible Power of Mathematics: Discovering What Cancer Hides.”

This talk will show how mathematics can help medicine better understand complex diseases such as cancer, revealing patterns and processes that often remain hidden until mathematics comes into play.

The goal is to inspire new scientific vocations, demonstrate the profound real-world impact of mathematics on society, and break the myth that mathematics is an abstract or boring discipline. Mathematics does not simply “serve a purpose”: it can also help in the fight against one of the greatest medical challenges of our time.
