“Data Analysis and Mathematical Modelling to Improve Outcomes in Pediatric Hematooncology"
The thesis defense of Álvaro Martínez Rubio will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The dissertation is entitled: “Data Analysis and Mathematical Modelling to Improve Outcomes in Pediatric Hematooncology", and has been supervised by Víctor M. Pérez García and María Rosa Durán. His thesis defense committee is constituted by Luciana Rodrigues Carvalho Barros (University of São Paulo, Brasil), Juan Belmonte Beitia (University of Casilla-La Mancha), and Blanca Herrero Velasco (Niño Jesús University Children's Hospital, Madrid).
The candidate has approached the issue of relapse in pediatric hematooncology from two perspectives: The use of data analysis tools and machine learning algorithms to predict response from flow cytometry data at diagnosis, and the use of mathematical models to describe, simulate and interrogate the dynamics of CAR T-cell therapy in leukemia and lymphoma.
