Course on Cellular Atomata
MOLAB

Wednesday, February 8
A1.06, E.T.S.I. Industriales. Edificio Politécnico.
On the 8th and 15th of February a course on Cellular Automata will be given at the E.T.S.I. Industriales by Juan Jiménez Sánchez, PhD in Applied Mathematics. The course will take place in room A1.06, from 9:30 to 11:30 h.
Cellular automata are a type of discrete mathematical model widely used in biology and, in particular, in cancer research. They allow biological phenomena to be implemented in the form of computational rules in a simple way, and are very useful when exploring emergent patterns resulting from the interaction between basic agents, and stochastic phenomena due to the small number of individuals. The course will introduce the fundamentals of cellular automata, review the most representative examples, and program case studies to acquire practical knowledge about the implementation of this type of model. The course is aimed at researchers (at any stage of their career) with an interest in cellular automata, and with basic programming skills. It is recommended to bring your own laptop.
