Abstract
A general treatment is given to analyse the stability of chiral versus delocalized symmetric states in molecules. The consideration that electrons are adapted to the nuclei and not providing an adiabatic double well, leads to the stabilization of the chiral forms except for a few cases that could include NHDT.
