Optimization of Glioma Treatment by Combination of Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Antiangiogenic and Metabolically-Targeted Therapies
This proposal aims to establish a truly multidisciplinary, translational collaboration involving neuro-oncologists, radiation oncologists, cancer biologists and mathematicians for brain cancer treatment. The goal is to explore the viability of developing mathematical models as ancillary tools for devising optimum combinations of standard radiotherapy, chemotherapy and antiangiogenic therapy with novel therapies targeting the metabolism of gliomas. We first provide a brief description of the main challenges to be met. We then outline the planned time schedule pointing out the milestones to be pursued. A list of all the participating institutions is to be found afterwards followed by a selection of key bibliography.
