Sergio Márquez Díaz has been awarded a UCLM “Investigo” fellowship to contribute to a project focused on developing digital technologies that optimize the design and administration of medical therapies.
The project centers on creating digital twins of patients that virtually simulate disease progression and treatment response. This approach enables in-silico clinical trials, helping to accelerate biomedical research while reducing development costs. In this context, Sergio’s work will help strengthen the integration between computational modeling, data analysis, and clinical research, supporting more precise and efficient approaches to personalized medicine.
Before joining MOLAB, Sergio studied at the University of Almería (UAL), where he collaborated with ophthalmologists and optometrists from the Oftalvist Almería clinic on a project applying mathematical modeling and machine learning to predict intraocular lens power in cataract surgery.
