:On the occasion of World Cancer Research Day, the Mathematical Oncology Laboratory (MOLAB) and the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) will co‑host the CNIO–MOLAB Hands‑on Meeting, a three‑day interactive workshop dedicated to advancing research on brain metastases. Held in Almagro at the Palacio de los Condes de Valdeparaíso (22–24 September 2025), it brings together experts in cancer biology, bioinformatics, and mathematical modelling/AI from CNIO, MOLAB and other Spanish institutions.

The event focuses on a RENACER challenge, Spain’s nationwide Spanish Association Againts Cancer (AECC)‑funded initiative on brain metastases, and blends a problem‑pitch with small‑team work sessions and cross‑group discussions. The goal is to integrate mechanistic mathematical models and computational analyses with experimental and clinical data to (i) reveal emergent patterns, (ii) generate novel hypotheses about disease progression and therapy response, and (iii) identify more effective, personalised interventions. Promising strategies will be stress‑tested in virtual clinical trials and prioritised for translation to patients with brain metastases.
