Hyperspectral imaging in gliomas
Identifying the precise boundaries of brain tumors for their resection is sometimes a difficult task even for skilled neurosurgeons. Hyperspectral imaging is an emerging non- invasive technique, that can provide large amounts of information on the brain surface to be used for medical purposes. We collaborate with the HELICoiD project to help neurosurgeons to discriminate between healthy and malignant tissues. Using the hyperspectral signatures of healthy tissues and cancerous tissues and mathematical models we intend to provide that information in real-time during surgical procedures.
