Biomarkers in diabetes and applications

Diabetes mellitus constitutes a major health problem and its clinical presentation and progression may vary considerably. Plasma glucose and glycated hemoglobin are routinely used for diagnosis and monitoring. We use mathematical models to design novel biomarkers beyond the state of the art. They can offer additional information and/or provide alternative tools with some advantages for the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetes.
